After I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease back in the early 1980s, it was obvious that I needed to take an interest in healthier, more natural living.
But when I started learning more about natural health, I was shocked to find out that most items found in traditional grocery stores contained an unhealthy abundance of man-made ingredients.
At this point, I already knew that I didn’t want to be consuming these new and unstudied ingredients. But when I started studying their effects on the human immune system, it was clear to me that I needed to avoid eating these foods at all costs.
However, back then there were very few alternative health food stores around, which, in turn, lead me to start on my quest for making my own healthy foods, using only safe and natural ingredients.
It wasn’t long before my love of natural foods carried over into occasionally making natural health products for family and eventually friends.
And, as I continued to explore the benefits of essential oils, butters, carrier oils, herbs, and botanicals, the more exciting it became to create new formulas.
Not every formula I’ve tried was a success.
